The new kid on the block said to be affiliated to Deputy President William Ruto has unveiled its candidates for the coming by elections.
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) today announced its first ever political candidates for the forthcoming senate, parliamentary and ward by-elections in the country.
The party which has been in existence was formerly known as Party for Reforms and Development (PDR) an affiliate of Jubilee but recently changed to UDA.
Speaking during the event attended by over a dozen MPs allied to Tanga Tanga faction, UDA chairman Johnston Muthama said they had settled on the candidates after a series of consultative meetings.
Mr Muthama said the new party will shake the country political terrains after most of its members were sidelined mother party Jubilee but have finally found comfort in UDA.
Among those unveiled for coming by election include former Assistant Minister Margaret Wanjiru who will fly the party ticked in Nairobi Gubenatorial race.
Mr Evans Kakai will fly UDA ticket in the Kabuchai Constituency seat while Alex Lanya will run for the Matungu parliamentary seat.
Mr Benard Kiala a former Machakos Deputy Governor will carry the wheelbarrow party ticket for Machakos Senate by-election.
Legislators present said they will use the new vehicle in coming elections noting that the original Jubilee Party had been hijacked by criminal elements.
The legislator said UDA was democratically, legally and constitutionally in Jubilee dismissing claims they had formed a new party.
“We are ready to move into UDA and make room,not only for us but other Jubilee supporter,” said Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.
Mr Murkomen told off those proposing displinary member to those in support of UDA to start with those in Jubilee who have shown open support to opposition parties like ODM.
He further called on for a level playing ground in the country politics noting that the current stalemate in Nairobi was clear violation of the constitution, he called on Judiciary to stand against political manipulation.
Senator Susan Kihika Nakuru called for a level political playing ground free from political Shenanigan which she said was a remedy for chaotic political process in the country.
Mr Ichung’wa said the new party will accommodate all cadre of people from the ordinary Kenyans upwards with an aim of improving the country economy.
Present were MPs Ben Washiali(Mumia East),Silvanus Osoro(South Mugirango),Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira),Kimani Ngunjiri(Bahati),Kimani Ichung’wa(Kikuyu),Jane Kihara (Naivasha),Anab Gure(Garissa) Lydia Haika (Taita Taveta)Nixon Korir(Lang’ata) and Florence Jematia East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
Also present were Senator Mithika Linturi and former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale
